A few months back I was doing a Google search online for injection molding and came across a site called Injection Molder. Right away I noticed that this particular site was the ONLY place I found thus far that sold a benchtop injection molding machine for home usage. Needless to say I was quite intrigued by the possibility of an easier way to cast parts along with the potential of doing so using ABS plastics. Basically almost all of the plastic that we buy is ABS plastic so the thought of being able to make parts of a tougher plastic grade had me hooked right away.
I have to admit that this is a pretty high ticket item. The machine along with all the bells and whistles that you need and I must stress "need", compound along with the ground shipping cost and your looking at an investment of over 2k. To the average Joe that is way too much. However, to a grown man-kid that day dreams of fabricating his own toys, 2k simply meant eating Ramen for a few months. What the heck, I like Ramen. I did all my research, talked to the owner several times, and finally placed my order.
Now Galomb, the company that I bought the machine from does not keep these injection machines in stock. Once an order is placed they build it to spec then ship it out. All in all the entire process takes a few months. Finally today my order arrived via FedEx.
